Another 10-15 minutes’ walk and you will be in the Center of Utila town where the majority of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, etc, are located.
The house is built on top of a concrete water storage cistern with a 8,400 gallon capacity constructed at ground level. The water storage cistern provides a solid foundation for the house. The water storage cistern is filled by rain water catchment from guttering to all roof edges. Drain pipes leading from the guttering fill the water storage cistern as does a piped water supply from a nearby private well. Also at ground level is an outdoor shower and at the rear of the house is a separate 81 sq ft storage/utilities room with a toilet and a hook-up for a washing machine.
At the first floor level is the 225 sq ft kitchen and main living area. Also at this level is a 210 sq ft partially covered wooden deck area. From the deck are peak-a-boo views across the road and past the small homes built on the other side of the road on the shoreline of Utila’s East Harbor.
Exterior stairs lead up from the wooden deck to the 3rd level which contains the bedroom and bathroom.
